Dear patients of 44 West Dental Professionals,

We have officially received word that we are able to re-open to routine dental care beginning Friday, May 29. We are excited and ready to continue our role in improving the oral health of our patients! Though we have not been seeing patients in the same capacity the past 10 weeks, we have been hard at work making changes to our facility and protocols to assure a safe office environment for our patients and team. Excellent office disinfection, instrument sterilization, hand hygiene, and mask and eye protection have always been a part of the culture here at 44 West. In light of the COVID-19 situation, we have doubled those efforts! We would love to share some of the changes you will see beginning Friday, May 29:

  • Our team will ask screening questions prior to your appointment.
  • We will be taking your temperature upon arrival with a no-contact forehead thermometer.
  • We have added air purification units to every treatment room and in common areas.
  • You will notice that our clinical team will be wearing upgraded PPE, which may include face shields, surgical gowns, and surgical caps.
  • Increased use of protective barriers in the treatment rooms.
  • A protective plexiglass barrier at our front desk area.
  • Hand sanitizer is available for patient use upon arrive and exit from the office.
  • We have removed hard-to-disinfect items from the reception area including magazines, books, and children’s toys. We have also removed some of our chairs.
  • Beginning Friday, May 29, we will ask that you call or text us upon arrival and we will escort you directly to your room.
  • We are allowing more time between appointments to allow social distancing between patients and added time to disinfect the rooms.
  • We will also be screening our team daily, including a questionnaire and taking temperature.
  • We invite all our patients to wear a mask or face covering upon arrival.
  • Though we will still utilize text or email appointment confirmations, we will also be confirming all appointments by phone starting Friday, May 29. This will allow our team to verbally screen and check for health history changes all our patients prior to their visit.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we are taking to keep all our patients healthy and safe in our office! We also understand that many of you may have questions about rescheduling a missed appointment during the office closure. Please know we will be reaching out to all our patients to reschedule these appointments. We ask for your patience in these efforts as we have 10 weeks worth of patients who need to be rescheduled. If you have questions, we invite you to leave a voicemail at (616) 530-2200 or send an email to info@44westdental.com. These have been monitored closely by our doctors over the past weeks, and we do our best to reply in a timely manner. Our phones will be staffed beginning Tuesday, May 26th.

Please note that to accommodate added time between appointments, there may be a slight adjustment to the starting time for appointments that were made prior to our office closure. If this is the case, we will contact you well in advance of your scheduled appointment about any potential change.

As always, if you have an urgent dental concern, please call our office at (616) 530-2200 and you will be directed to speak with one of our doctors. We are continuing to monitor our email and voicemail messages daily and will respond to any questions as soon as we are able.

We look forward to seeing you very soon!

Sincerely,

Drs. Doublestein, Wierenga, Trierweiler, and team at 44 West Dental Professionals
